Power Of WHY – 5 Questions You Should Ask Yourself

by: Admin

I have learned not to underestimate the power of words; verbal or written, spoken or locked within the depths of your mind. There are over one million words in the English dictionary but there is one word in particular that has really resonated with me and has impacted my life more so than any other. That word is… why.

In context, why is generally used as the base of a question. Throughout the course of history, scientists, theorists, and other great minds have asked many such ‘why’ questions that have created the world that we live in today. Now, while it is unlikely that ‘why’ will help the average person change or dictate the course of history, perhaps, as they did for me, this simple three letter word can alter a person’s life.

There have been extended bouts in my life where I have been, quite frankly, unhappy. Unhappy with my career of choice. Unhappy with my appearance. Unhappy with the stagnancy of my life. Just unhappy. If you’ve been there, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It sucks! In my situation, unhappiness led to unnecessary stress, weight gain, poor sleep, etc., which, unfortunately, led to more unhappiness. If you’re going to be stuck in a revolving door, you’ll probably want to choose a different one.

I understood that things needed to change and they began to change the instant I started asking… why?

Questions I Encourage You to Ask Yourself

Here are 5 ‘why’ questions that I asked myself and continue to ask myself (I encourage you to do the same):

1) Why do I spend time with the people that I spend time with?

2) Why do I enjoy doing the things that I enjoying doing

3) Why do I dislike doing the things that I dislike doing?

4) Why can’t I spend more time doing the things that I like and less time doing the things that I don’t?

5) Why am I the way that I am (good or bad)?

Once I started asking these questions, I began to see life through a brand new set of eyes. I started to understand that I had a choice. For better or worse… I chose to hang out with the friends that I hung out with. I chose to date the girls that I dated. I chose to work at the companies that I worked at. With this new vision, I began to abolish the negativity and promote the positivity in my life whether they were people or situations. To say the very least, I’m ecstatic with the result.

Asking ‘why’ also helped me invent the Evolution but that’s a story for another day. For now, I’ll leave you with this: If you are unhappy with your life or your circumstances, understand that you have a choice. You have the power to change yourself and your environment. The process begins by asking… why?
